Nonsequitor: the Palin Phenomenon is Alive and Well

I  just have to revisit this subject briefly: the Sarah Palin phenomenon.
For all intents and purposes, one might assume that the phenomenon is dead. Despite the ‘tightening’ in the polls (how do all the media channels conclude to use the exact same word in so many instances?) there seems to be a foregone conclusion that [...]

A Fascinating Look at Where We’ve Been

Because 50% of my background is in the accounting field, I have that annoying, anal-retentive exactness found in bookkeepers. All things must balance, and I will willingly (if not enthusiastically) spend half a day tracking down why my numbers are off by a penny.
Because of this anal-retentive exactness (I have a pet theory that all [...]

Lack of Hope, Hope, and the Blessed Hope

Economics has of course been on everyone’s minds. In keeping with these worries, the two candidates for President have been addressing economic issues. And I, like nearly everyone else I imagine, has drawn some conclusion from the messages we’re hearing.
In brief, here is what I am hearing:
Lack of Hope: this is the Barrack Obama Message. [...]

Another New Toy — and Some Things that are Going to Look Different

I downloaded another new toy two days ago, and I am having a blast with it!
The new toy is a new accounting program for the business. This may seem a strange thing to get excited over, but accounting, possibly even more than books, was responsible for motivating me to launch my own business.
If anyone has read [...]

New Review Received

Yesterday, I was forwarded a new review for Ceilidh’s Quest from Gail MacMillan. It is written by newspaper columnist Sue Owens Wright who has also received seven nominations for the Maxwell Award with two wins.
Our many thanks go out to her for her time in writing it. Here’s the review:

Frankfurt Bookfair begins Today

Lest any have forgotten (as I nearly had myself), the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany begins today.
This is the largest annual bookfair in the world, and this year we have one title participating. I’ll be interested to see what sort of feedback we receive.
Everyone have a great Wednesday.

How Many Times can This Man say, “I Didn’t Know”?

C’mon, Obama.
How many times can you use the tired excuse of, “I didn’t know?”
You said you didn’t know Tony Rezko was into shady deals when you let him help you with your house purchase.
You said you didn’t know that the Reverend Wright was preaching something other than the Gospel despite sitting in the pew of [...]

A Few Things on My Mind

Here are a few things I’ve been thinking about:
Does it make anyone else extremely nervous that our government has now decided to turn its attention to our 401K’s and ‘fix’ them?
I think we may have to take the rest of our money out. The stock market crashing didn’t scare me as much as our esteemed [...]

Is She Qualified? You Betcha’!

There’s a danger in believing your own PR and your own spin. I imagine that all but the most seasoned veterans of the news media are reflecting on just that lesson this morning.
Sarah Palin stepped up to the plate last evening and again made a smashing out-of-the-ball-park homerun. I was not surprised (as my op-ed [...]

The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways

Just barely a month ago, most of us had never heard of Sarah Palin. In fact, her VP nomination acceptance speech had still not been given. And yet you may well have her to thank (or blame, depending on your position) for the Bailout Bill (deceptively now being called a ‘rescue bill’) not being passed on [...]
